EF 85mm f/1.8 USM

This lens is a good value, small, fast, and great performing lens.  The Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Lens is relatively inexpensive but yields very good image quality, even wide open. This is a lovely outdoor portrait lens for a crop frame (EOS 50D) users like this author.

Shooting Golf

Sports photography isn't easy. There are lots of great sports photos published, but the average newspaper is full of mediocre sports photos almost everyday. One of the reasons it's tough is because it's hard to get a good photo of action is sports. And golf is one of the harder sports to photograph. There's no physical contact between players, the course is very big. The golf ball is very small and travels fast - unless when putting, of course. It can be hard to get a good shot without the risk of disturbing the golfer or risk getting hit by an errant drive.

EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM

The Canon 60mm lens is the sharpest non-L lens I own, and it is my only true macro lens.  If it wasn't EF-S i reckon Canon would give this baby the L designation. This is how big I think of this lens.
